Description
Secluded, cozy and bright four-season cottage tucked in the woods with private waterfront on beautiful Lac Bernard. Just 40 minutes north of Ottawa this is the perfect place for a romantic getaway or a quiet space for the family to rejuvenate, relax and regroup. The charming pine interior features a well equipped kitchen, open concept dining and living room with raised woodstove (wood provided), stereo, DVD player and TV (selection of videos provided); winterized sun room with pull out couch; 2 bedrooms equipped with queen -sized beds and down duvets; four piece bathroom; large deck with patio furniture and BBQ; and outside fire pit. You do not see the water from the chalet but the private waterfront with deck, dock and canoe is a short 300 ft stroll down a wooded path from the chalet. Outside the door are 30 acres of private sugar bush which are your to enjoy (you share them with the deer that call it home). In just 15 minutes you are in the charming village of Wakefield. Situated on the edge of the Gatineau River the village offers all the usual amenities (pharmacy, grocery stores, hospital) as well as fine (or more casual) dining, a spa, the Black Sheep Inn, farmers market (summer Saturday mornings) and historic covered bridge.

In summer enjoy lounging on the dock or swimming on the private beach; canoe (provided) on the large lake and explore the many uninhabited islands of Lac Bernard; fish on the lake; wander in the sugar bush outside your door; bike down the country roads; play volleyball or soccer on the field just down from the chalet; have a bonfire (wood provide) in one of the two fire pits (one water side) or just enjoy the peace and tranquility. In addition, there are multiple activities within a half hour's drive of the chalet including golfing at the Pontiac and Edelweiss golf courses; hiking and cave exploring at Lac Phillip; an aerial park and magnificent caves at the LaFléche Caves; Mountain biking and hiking in the Gatineau Park; horseback riding in Edelweiss; bungee jumping in Farm Point.

In winter it is a wonderland. Enjoy snowshoeing in the maple bush, ice-fishing, skating on the lake , cross country skiing or just curl up by the fireplace, enjoy the solitude and gaze out into the woods (no other houses or cottages in view). Downhill skiing, world class cross country ski trails and dog sledding are all available just 12 minutes away in Wakefield. Tubing , horseback riding (and downhill skiing) also available in Edelweiss (10 minutes east of Wakefield).
