| We left this rental frustrated by its condition and poor communication. We do not recommend it.
Cleanliness: The bedding had not been washed. Some beds had sand between the sheets, while stains on others disappeared after washing them ourselves. The hot tub had disgusting water, full of sand and a grimy ring. The bbq was full of mould so we could not use it.
Mice! They got into the pantry and ate through so much food that we had to throw out a large amount.
Maintenance/listing: Photos are outdated. The advertised firepit area is nearly nonexistent because the hot tub is beside it now. There was plenty of firewood but only an axe handle. The screened porch filled with mosquitoes, and its floor felt unstable.
Zero-noise policy: Only the day before arrival were we told of a zero-tolerance outdoor-noise policy, including no music and possible loss of our security deposit. We felt anxious even when the kids were playing outside.
Communication: Emails sent weeks before and the day before about early check-in went unanswered; we had to contact the rental association. An email about constant beeping behind a locked basement door was answered 36 hours later. Afterward, the owner acknowledged our concerns, offered very little compensation and declined further resolution.
The spacious cottage, kitchen, dining area and beach were positives. For approximately $5,000, we expected much better cleanliness, maintenance and communication.

We were pleased to learn that you and your group enjoyed the spacious cottage, large kitchen, dining area and beach, which are features many families appreciate when staying at La Plage Étoilée. We take cleanliness and guest satisfaction seriously. Had we been informed during the stay of the housekeeping concerns mentioned in your review, we would have gladly arranged for our cleaning team to return to the property to address them. Unfortunately, we were not given the opportunity to inspect or correct these items while your group was on site. Regarding communication, we acknowledge that our response to the beeping issue was delayed due to an internal oversight, and we apologize for that inconvenience. For urgent matters, our welcome email provides three separate contact numbers in addition to email support to ensure guests can reach us as quickly as possible. Concerning cellular coverage, the cottage is located in a rural wooded area where traditional cellular service is limited. While this is not typically considered a rental property feature, we nevertheless advise guests of this in our welcome information and provide instructions for Wi-Fi calling. Internet access is available at the cottage, and both Wi-Fi calling and WhatsApp calling function normally. We would also like to clarify that our noise policy is intended to prevent disturbances to neighbouring properties and maintain the peaceful environment that guests seek when visiting the area. Normal outdoor use of the property, including families enjoying the grounds, is not prohibited. The policy is focused on excessive noise that could generate complaints. Following discussions after your stay, we reviewed the concerns raised and provided compensation beyond the normal refund of the security deposit as a gesture of goodwill. While we respectfully disagree with some aspects of your assessment, we appreciate your comments and will continue to review ways to improve the guest experience. | Nous avons adoré notre séjour de 4 jours au chalet. Nous étions 9 adultes et un jeune enfant et tous nous y avons trouvé notre place, même qu'il y avait des barrières au niveau des escaliers pour sécuriser les déplacements de notre tout petit. En fait, en entrant dans le chalet nous avons fait "wow" et en repartant nous avons pensé que c'était vraiment "wow".
Nous avons tous bien dormi. L'organisation des repas était facile, nous avons mangé sur la véranda et/ou autour de la grande table de cuisine. Il y avait même une table disponible où nous avons pu faire un puzzle (ça c'est rare). Nous avons beaucoup joué au baby foot et au billard mais aussi lu dans plusieurs coins tranquilles de la propriété. Nous nous sentions tellement chez nous que nous nous demandions où nous pourrions mette l'arbre de Noël!!
Nous avons beaucoup beaucoup profité du lac: beaucoup de longues nages; tour de kayak; pédalo; château de sable; relaxation et nous avons également redécouvert le silence les petits matins sur l'eau, l'eau qui était parfaite, un vrai bonheur. En fait cela a été 4 jours de pur bonheur. Que dire, nous n'avons même pas ouvert la télé!
